Blue Mother Tupelo

"Blue Mother Tupelo Is Quite Possibly The Best Husband & Wife Duo You've Never Heard Of ... close, soul-searing harmonies like only intimate kin can ... a heady blend of otherworldly longing and thisworldly passion" Paste Magazine
"Micol and Ricky Davis bring to Mississippi blues the same historic respect and modern sensibility that Gillian Welch and David Rawlings bring to old Appalachian music."
The Tennessean
Blue Mother Tupelo has a sound that is a pure Southern Soul stew - BMT is the husband/wife duo of Ricky and Micol Davis. Ricky and Micol met in Knoxville, Tennessee, married and created Blue Mother Tupelo, with an original sound blending Rock & Roll, Mountain Music, Soul and Delta Blues, truly a genre-defying band. After positive reviews of their debut release "My Side of the Road," BMT moved to Nashville. They quickly developed a strong reputation with their fiery stage presence and remarkable sound. In 2001, they released the critically acclaimed "Delta Low-Mountain High," and more and more people began to take notice of BMT as they toured across the South and Midwest. In 2005, Blue Mother Tupelo was featured on the Southern fried soundtrack, and had their first music video featured on the DVD of the movie "Daltry Calhoun" (Miramax) starring Johnny Knoxville and Juliette Lewis. BMT has recently released their new live CD of recordings from various live music venues throughout the South called "Love Live (5 Songs From The Road)" and are currently recording their new studio CD to be released in Spring 2009. BMT has recently performed at several prestigious festivals all across the USA. Some include, the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival in Nashville, The Winter Park Folk Festival in Colorado, The Juke Joint Festival in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic alongside T-Model Ford, Bobby Rush and North Mississippi All-Stars, and The Big State Festival in Bryan-College Station, Texas alongside Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and Drive-By Truckers. Blue Mother Tupelo is ever-growing, faithful to the art and love of making pure, soul-filled music.
